About K12IT.org
A community of tech professionals
K12IT is the place for IT professionals working in educational institutions to share resources and converse.
There are active conversations and communities online centering on "technology in the classroom" and IT as it relates to teaching. While great for tech integrators and teachers, these conversations and communities rarely address the unique interests and concerns of IT professionals who work for schools, school districts, intermediate units, and other educational organizations. That's the gap K12IT.org fills.
K12IT.org is a hub for IT professionals working in educational settings with job titles like Director of Technology Services, Manager of Information Technology, Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, Tech Support, and Internet Applications Support.
What K12IT.org gives you
The value of K12IT.org comes from five types of service:
- A collection of on-site blogs (free to all registered members) centered on K-12 IT issues. With an active community of bloggers comes an active community of commenters. It is possible to subscribe to a single member's blog or to all K12IT.org blogs by RSS.
- A membership directory that makes it easy to find colleagues and peers interested in discussing issues unique to IT in K-12 settings as well as growing professionally.
- Aggregation of K12IT-related content and conversation from across the Web. Tweets with hashtag #k12it and bookmarks tagged with k12it are displayed here on the site, making it easy to keep a finger on the pulse of the conversation within the profession.
- Forums for discussion and learning.
- A knowledge base of documents and static resources like school district technology plans, technology usage policies, and IT-related job descriptions.
K12IT.org membership is free.
K12IT.org is made possible by the support of Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13.
